Under New York State law, students enrolled in post-secondary institutions are required to provide proof of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR). Students who hold genuine and sincere religious beliefs contrary to immunization may request a religious exemption.
To request an exemption, students must submit a completed Religious Immunization Exemption Request form and any supporting documentation to Health Services. Requests are reviewed on an individual basis in accordance with applicable law as well as University policy and approval is not guaranteed.
If an exemption is granted, the University may impose reasonable conditions or restrictions consistent with New York State law and public health requirements, including during an outbreak of vaccine-preventable disease.
For timely review, requests should be submitted by August 1 for the fall semester and January 1 for the spring semester.
Please contact Health Services with any questions regarding the exemption process.
